“I was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1989. I’m obsessed with Brazilian Carnival and its people, colors, and music. Before the pandemic, I used to spend my entire year planning costumes for February. I’m looking forward to a time when we can all enjoy the magic again.
I graduated in Marketing & Advertising and have worked at multinational companies in sales, branding, and retail. I’ve always loved my career, but most of all, it’s the interaction with people – colleagues, stakeholders, customers – that gets me up in the morning.
In 2012 I found a stage-1 tumour. I was living alone in Recife and decided not to tell my parents. They lived in Rio and had financial and mental health challenges of their own; I didn’t want to overload them with another problem. So at age 23, I found myself terrified and alone. I spent a year undergoing painful biopsies and exams. It was time to reset, rebalance and rethink. So to complement the medical procedures, I decided to improve every other aspect of life; I started to exercise and eat natural, fresh, whole foods. I also started meditating to enjoy every moment as though it was my last.
I remember the day I got the results back saying I was cured. I broke down in tears of relief. From that day onwards, I’ve never been the same again: my health has improved in a holistic and comprehensive way – physically, mentally, and spiritually. You can only imagine how ecstatic I was when I read about the role of Market Manager for Insight Timer’s Portuguese-speaking community! At the time I was working in the beauty sector and loved my job. But my professional life lacked purpose; I wanted to be part of something greater. So I made the hardest decision of my career; I left a job I loved and where everyone spoke my language to work remotely for Insight Timer, where my closest teammate is 5,000 miles away.
It was the best decision I ever made. Working at Insight Timer means putting my values into practice. I am proud to work on something that provides mental health resources to people, improving their lives. And I really believe that better people can build a better world.”
